Deadline for Good Neighbour Award extended
![]() |
We hear so much in the media about problems with Anti-Social Behaviour and problems within communities, so wouldn’t it be nice to hear about neighbours who make a positive impact on people’s lives and the communities in which they live.
Derwentside Homes has launched a new award to recognise and reward the contribution that good neighbours can make to communities.
This is your chance to nominate your friend or neighbour, to say thank you to those people who are dedicated to helping others and make their community a better place to live and who make a positive difference to you personally.
There are 3 categories for nomination:
Good Neighbour – It’s easy to get caught up in our own lives, but when you need some help, it’s reassuring to know that you can rely on your neighbours. Do you know someone who is always there for you? Do they help out with your garden or do the shopping for you when you can’t. Perhaps they look after your children so you can get a break or maybe they have helped out at a time of crisis?
Community Hero– Do you know a community champion who makes your Estate / Community a better place to live? This award is for someone who is outstanding for their contribution to the community or through voluntary work.
Exceptional Young Person’s Award – Do you know a young person who deserves to be recognised for their commitment to others or someone who has made a real difference to your area? We're looking to find people aged 21-years-old and younger who have shown inspirational behaviour, perhaps someone who has had to overcome personal challenges, is a role model for other young people, or someone who goes the extra mile by helping out in their community or possible fund raising. This award will recognise the acts of goodwill from younger people living in the community.
Nominate a winner and they’ll be in with a chance of winning £250 so they can treat themselves as a thank you from you.
