Homelessness
I'm at risk of becoming homeless?
If you think that you are likely to become homeless soon then you need to get advice as soon as possible! For example, your landlord might be threatening to put you out or the friend or relatives you are staying with are saying that you have to leave.
Whatever your situation we have lots of information available that may help, whether you are a Derwentside Homes tenant or not or if you are making a homeless application already.
Our Useful Links page also gives the contact information of agencies that may be able to help.
If you need help with financial problems you can contact our Social Inclusion Officer.
Why apply for housing?
I am making a Homeless application:
- What is the homeless procedure?
- What if I'm homeless but not in priority need?
- What is temporary accommodation?
- I've been told I am Intentionally Homeless, what does this mean?
- I'm unhappy with the council's decision
You can contact Durham County Council's Housing Solutions Team or other organisations such as the Citizens Advice Bureau or Shelter which provide free independent advice on all housing problems.
