Independent Living for over 55’s

Derwentside Homes provides specially designed accommodation for older people who wish to live independently whilst having the security of access to 24-hour support. There are eight units of sheltered accommodation across Derwentside all with an on site support officer available from Monday to Friday.

These self contained flats have their own bathrooms and fitted kitchens. Single flats can accommodate one person where as double flats can accommodate a couple. There are a number of sheltered courts within the district, and most have level access to shops and bus routes.

As well as each flat having its own lockable front door, there is the added security of a locked communal entrance, the social aspect; coffee mornings and trips away. for those tenants wanting to get involved and meet other people.

Open days

If you would like to see what life is like in our Independent Living Schemes, attend one of the Open Days which will be held in each scheme. There will be cake stalls, book sale/exchanges, refreshments, tombolas and raffles. If you cannot make the dates and would still like to visit one of our schemes, please contact our Support Officers on the numbers below to arrange a visit.
