Derwentside Homes is looking to recruit new Board Members
Appointment of Independent Board Member and Three Co-opted Board Members
Derwentside Homes is a Large Scale Voluntary Transfer association and is a leading provider of social housing in County Durham with almost 6,700 homes in management. The association has invested over £40 million in improving its homes and services since transfer in December 2006 and is planning to invest a further £40 million over the next 3 years.
We are looking for committed enthusiastic individuals to join the Board of the association. The Board consists of 15 voting members; 5 nominated by Durham County Council, 5 Tenants of the association and 5 Independent Members. There is currently a vacancy for 1 Independent Member. The Board has also agreed to co-opt at the same time up to 3 non-voting experts to provide a pool of informed people to consider when filling future Board vacancies.
The role of the Board is to ensure that the promises made to tenants are fulfilled by developing the association’s business plan, strategies and policies and helping to deliver more affordable homes in the area. There is a minimum commitment of 12 evening meetings per year. The positions are unpaid and voluntary but we will pay reasonable expenses. We would like to hear from you if you have experience at a professional or managerial level in at least one of the following:
• Social housing • Working with vulnerable
• Construction management groups/supported housing
• Human Resources • Capital finance/banking
• Resident participation/ • Economic Regeneration
community investment • Planning and Development
• Legal • Governance
