How we started
Derwentside Homes manages the housing stock that was owned and managed by Derwentside District Council until 4th December 2006. In October 2005, 78% of tenants voted in favour of stock transfer and set in motion a process.
The terms on which they were consulted are set out in the Council’s consultation documents. These documents contained a series of promises to our customers, and our progress in delivering these promises will be regularly updated in the web site.

Transfer took place on 4th December 2006. The Association is locally owned and controlled, with a management board of five Council nominees, five elected tenants and five independents appointed by the Board. It is managed professionally by a Chief Executive, Directors and people with a range of professional skills and experience.
