Homelessness
People suffering domestic violence are at risk of becoming homeless. Where possible, Derwentside Homes will refer the victim to an agency offering a placement in a place of safety (refuge) or other suitable temporary accommodation.
Derwentside Homes recognises that victims need a safe refuge from their abusive partner, and often outreach and resettlement support to enable them to set up a new home. The Local Authority has a statutory duty to provide alternative accommodation in specific circumstances.
